VAI, an ERP software provider, has partnered with Agile Network, a provider of parcel and transportation management systems, to provide regional, national, and international parcel carriers a complete and streamlined global shipping solution. Leveraging the VAI S2K ERP application, the joint solution automates the entire fulfillment process, providing customers with optimal operational performance across large enterprise deployments, resulting in a rapid and significant return on investment.

AgileShip Supply Chain (SC) is a multi-carrier, multi-location, global shipping solution that automates the entire fulfillment process from rating and routing at web store front or sales order entry, through shipping execution, document generation, tracking, invoice receipt, carrier audit, and reconciliation. AgileShip SC provides certified connectivity for FedEx, UPS, USPS, Purolator, DHL, and many more parcel carriers. In addition, AgileShip SC supports more than 5,000 rated LTL and TL freight carriers, while integrating a variety of inline shipping services including 3PL, audit and payment, vendor compliance, and export compliance and screening.

VAI and Agile Network will help manufacturing and distribution customers streamline their shipping processes. Berk Enterprises, Inc., a distributor of restaurant, janitorial, and paper products, recently installed AgileElite, reaping significant benefits in a fairly short amount of time.

Working with over 32 overseas suppliers and 142 domestic suppliers, Berk selected Agile to help streamline their shipping processes, reduce their transportation costs and gain more visibility and control. The integration of AgileShip SC and VAI’s S2K ERP application has significantly improved Berk’s rating, routing, planning, optimization, execution, and reconciliation capabilities. As a result, the company has seen a significant decrease in employee resources and errors in invoice reconciliation, and has provided transportation visibility and control that will help pave the way for renegotiation of their carrier contracts providing a 10% reduction of transportation costs. The return on investment is estimated to be less than one year.

“Partnering with VAI has helped us extend our footprint with Tier 1 ERP and systems providers as well as gain access to VAI’s expansive, global customer base,” said David Mallett, principal, Agile Network. “With our combined offerings, our customers now have the best tools available to meet their most critical fulfillment and supply chain needs. We look forward to strengthening our relationship with VAI to provide manufacturing and distribution companies around the world best-in-class transportation and logistics solutions.”

Integrated with the VAI S2K ERP application, AgileShip SC customers are able to harness the value of existing S2K Warehouse Management, Order Management, Customer Relationship Management, Retail and E-Business applications. AgileShip SC integrates directly with the S2K application to collect package and order detail required for manifesting, labeling, and carrier execution. Upon execution, AgileShip SC transmits the tracking number, weight, service level, and cost back to S2K applications. Upon carrier invoice reconciliation, audited transportation charges are also available.

“VAI is continually looking for ways to help its customers be more productive and profitable,” said Dan Bivona, sales director, VAI. “Partnering with best-of-breed providers like Agile Network allows us to develop the most complete and powerful ERP solution on the market today, providing our customers with the necessary tools to help them succeed and grow.”

Assurance of Supply: A Top Concern for Manufacturers

Every manufacturer has an assurance of supply problem to some extent due to the complexity of global sourcing. For years, manufacturers were blessed with high margins but margins have grown paper thin. You can’t fill up your distribution centers with excess inventory – not only is there a cost factor but the pace of business and consumer buying trends causes goods to quickly turn obsolete. Assurance of supply provides the speed and agility that is essential to being able to compete in today’s market.
