Landstar System http://landstar.com has launched a mobile app for smartphones. The mobile app was primarily designed for Landstar agents and business capacity owners (BCOs) so that they will be able to conduct searches for agents or loads without any other type of equipment aside from their phones.

“As more and more of our independent BCOs and agents started using their mobile devices to conduct load searches, we started developing an app to make it easier for those users,” says Larry Thomas, VP and CIO, Landstar.

Thomas adds, “The mobile site mimics the intranet site that Landstar BCOs use to find and select freight. It’s fast and user-friendly.”

And it’s also free. The mobile app is currently available for download at the Android Market, the iPhone App Store, and Windows Phone Marketplace.

Throughout the last couple months, the app has been downloaded by more than a thousand users—and counting.
