MoreNeptune Orient Lines Ltd. (NOL) has renewed its contract with Union Pacific Railroad for U.S. rail transport of containerized cargo. The new agreement extends a decades-long relationship in which Union Pacific has been the lead intermodal rail provider for Singapore-based NOL’s businesses.
The contract encompasses the intermodal operations of APL, NOL’s liner shipping business, as well as those of its APL Logistics’ auto-related activities in North America.
Omaha, Nebraska-based Union Pacific transports containerized cargo for NOL Group’s APL shipping line from the ports of Los Angeles, Seattle, and Oakland, Calif. It reaches major APL inland hubs including Chicago, Memphis, and Columbus, Ohio. APL, the world’s sixth-largest container shipping line, is one of the largest users of intermodal rail transportation in the U.S.
