YRC Freight Selected for 2011 Carrier Excellence Award

BNSF Logistics, one of the fastest-growing third-party logistics providers in North America, has selected YRC Freight for its 2011 Carrier Excellence Award in the LTL services category.

YRC Freight received the award in a presentation at its corporate headquarters attended by Ray Greer, president of BNSF Logistics, and other members of the management team.

"We've had a very good relationship with BNSF Logistics over the last two years, and we are honored to be selected as one of their first Carrier Excellence Award recipients," said Jeff Rogers, YRC Freight president. "We appreciate the confidence they've shown in our company and in our comprehensive long-haul network. I'm confident we'll continue to raise the bar on customer service in the future."

Last year, BNSF Logistics sent a questionnaire to its customers, asking them to evaluate the carrier partners. The BNSF Logistics management team analyzed the results and selected YRC Freight as the best LTL carrier. Factors considered in the selection process included on-time service, capacity and overall customer service performance.

BNSF Logistics is an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of Burlington Northern Santa Fe LLC, a Berkshire Hathaway company. Founded in 2002, the company serves several thousand customers, providing global logistics services. For the last two years, BNSF Logistics has designated YRC Freight as its primary LTL carrier. This is the first year the company has recognized its best carriers with an annual award."

BNSF Logistics is a company that values effective communication from its carriers, and that's where we excel," said Rick Mathews, senior vice president of sales and marketing, customer service and customer support at YRC Freight. "From our customer service center to our terminals to regular calls from the sales force, we keep them abreast of how we're handling their freight, so they can keep their customers informed. At the same time, we've demonstrated that we can meet their needs for consistent, reliable service."

Supply chain visibility is an appealing yet elusive capability for most companies. While most recognize the significant benefits that would accrue from comprehensive visibility, few have made it a reality across their global operations. Part of the problem companies seem to have in embracing and implementing visibility is the lack of a comprehensive definition or firm understanding of the transformational potential. In this podcast, World Trade and GT Nexus will discuss the definitions and opportunities as well as how new cloud technology platforms are driving significant value to major companies today.

Speaker: Greg Johnson, Chief Marketing Officer & Co-Founder of GT Nexus
