Cabela’s, a leading specialty retailer and the world's largest direct marketer of hunting, fishing, camping and related outdoor merchandise, uses the Descartes cloud-based Dock Appointment and Yard Management solution to provide integrated visibility, control and performance reporting for inbound and outbound shipments to and from Cabela’s North American distribution centers, according to the company.
“We believe we will generate significant efficiency gains and cost savings by automating inefficient manual processes and moving away from disparate systems,” said Eric Sylvester, director of logistics at Cabela’s. “Improving command of our inbound and outbound transportation operations is critical for our business,” he added.
The dock appointment and yard management solution combines multi-party commercial and logistics information and processes to manage inventory and improve customer service through better control of the purchase-order-to-dock lifecycle. The solutions help Cabela’s control the flow of goods into and out of their distribution centers and better plan resources within the facilities, said Descartes.
