Global NVOCC CaroTrans announced a Door-to-Port rate application which calculates a combined transportation cost for LTL (less than truckload) and LCL (less than container load) shipments for specific origin-destination routes.

Users are presented with a variety of route/sailing options allowing them to evaluate and select transportation services based on transit time/destination ETA (estimated time of arrival) and cost, said CaroTrans, a non-vessel-operating common carrier and ocean freight consolidator. Comprehensive costs are computed based on origin and destination locations, cargo pick-up date, number of pieces, weight, and freight volume.

The Door-to-Port Rate application is CaroTrans' latest addition to their suite of e-commerce tools which include: bookings, sailing schedules, LCL/FCL rates, tracking and inland rates.
