INTTRA, Catapult International Partner for Integrated Rate Management

Agreement combines Catapult’s rate and contract management offering with INTTRA’s global e-shipping software to deliver better shipping capability.

INTTRA, a multi-carrier e-commerce network for ocean shipping, announced an agreement with Catapult International, a provider of multi-modal rate and contract management systems for the logistics industry, to sell integrated rate and contract management capabilities to freight forwarders, shippers and carriers that use INTTRA’s global e-shipping software.

The agreement brings together two software systems that automate the complete shipping process--from carrier rate, schedule and booking selection through ocean freight invoicing. Integrating accurate rate information directly into the e-shipping life cycle creates new efficiencies for carriers, shippers and 3PLs through automation, which can eliminate duplicate manual entries, improves the accuracy of shipment information, and expedites the overall process.

By combining Catapult’s global rate repository and margin analysis capabilities with INTTRA’s database of carrier performance and operational metrics, 3PLs and shippers can gain valuable insights to enhance supply chain execution and profitability. This includes the ability to evaluate the impact of historical carrier utilization to drive more informed carrier selections in the future and gain better visibility for logistics improvements.

Carrier Rate Management and Carrier Contract Management are ranked as two of the industry’s top pain points, due to a lack of integration and a reliance on manual processes. By integrating the rate management capabilities of Catapult into INTTRA’s global multi-carrier software, the industry can automate their rate and e-shipping needs using a centralized, collaborative platform linking freight forwarders, shippers and carriers.

With this relationship, access to INTTRA’s booking capability will be integrated directly into Catapult’s rate and contract system. Freight forwarders and shippers can use Catapult’s system to view their privately negotiated carrier rates, schedules and contract details, and then book directly through INTTRA’s multi-carrier platform—carrying accurate rate information into INTTRA’s e-shipment systems. Catapult’s global rate management system enables 3PL’s and freight forwarders to provide quick quotes to shippers and ensure margin preservation by eliminating quoting errors, even in highly decentralized, multi-location organizations.

Carriers can use Catapult’s suite of offerings to improve their tender management process and provide faster responses to ‘requests for quotes’, since the solution is designed to map unique shipper and 3PL bid packets into a format they can respond to. Carriers can automatically distribute rate and surcharge changes to Catapult’s subscribed customers—without additional data entry and distribution by either party—reducing resources and costs, and increasing rate accuracy for all parties.

INTTRA also plans to integrate rate information into the e-shipping life cycle to radically improve the Order to Cash process. With visibility into the entire e-shipping process, customers get accurate rates from the start, decreasing invoice disputes, lowering costs and enhancing customer experiences.

Assurance of Supply: A Top Concern for Manufacturers

Every manufacturer has an assurance of supply problem to some extent due to the complexity of global sourcing. For years, manufacturers were blessed with high margins but margins have grown paper thin. You can’t fill up your distribution centers with excess inventory – not only is there a cost factor but the pace of business and consumer buying trends causes goods to quickly turn obsolete. Assurance of supply provides the speed and agility that is essential to being able to compete in today’s market.
