Yusen Logistics Launches Temperature-Controlled LTL Services in Indochina

Yusen Logistics has expanded its cross-border trucking services for Indochina with the launch of temperature-controlled LTL (less than truckload) services for food products.

With reefer trucks often used for road transportation of food products and other chilled cargo, services can be costly with scheduling issues, as trucks sometimes need to be chartered even for small orders, or postponed until more cargo can be consolidated.

Yusen Logistics has launched temperature-controlled LTL services using reefer trucks. These services enable consolidation, flexible scheduling, and reduced transportation costs in comparison with chartered trucks.

With cross-border transportation, there can be cases where cargo needs to be transferred to another vehicle at border crossings. In order to avoid temperature increases during that task, thermal blankets are utilized to minimize the impact of external temperatures and maintain freshness.

Transportation with a seamless cold chain is already being conducted between Ho Chi Minh and Phnom Penh.

Looking to the future, Yusen will continue its focus on enhancing the food supply chain in Indochina.

Assurance of Supply: A Top Concern for Manufacturers

Every manufacturer has an assurance of supply problem to some extent due to the complexity of global sourcing. For years, manufacturers were blessed with high margins but margins have grown paper thin. You can’t fill up your distribution centers with excess inventory – not only is there a cost factor but the pace of business and consumer buying trends causes goods to quickly turn obsolete. Assurance of supply provides the speed and agility that is essential to being able to compete in today’s market.
