Schneider Adds 100 Driver Jobs in Greater Birmingham Area

Schneider, one of the nation’s largest truckload carriers, is immediately hiring 100 professional truck drivers in the Birmingham-McCalla-Bessemer, Ala., area and its surrounding suburbs to meet a wide variety of growing business needs. Many of the positions are within the company’s Dedicated division, with additional opportunities available across other divisions in Schneider’s fleet.

Schneider Dedicated account truck drivers deliver freight for one customer, which means consistent weekly home time, freight, miles and paychecks. These positions deliver freight from distribution centers in the greater Birmingham area and provide annual earnings up to $64,000 per year, with a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000.

“What’s great about being on a Dedicated account is that you develop a good rapport with your shippers and receivers,” said Steve Creighton, a Schneider driver of 27 years. “You really start to cultivate a friendship, and to me, that means a lot.”

In addition to Dedicated positions, Schneider has openings across its Regional, Tanker, Team Expedited and Long-Haul divisions. Most positions offer weekly time at home options and annual earnings up to $70,000. In addition, sign-on bonuses of up to $7,500 are available.

Schneider is also leasing owner-operators across Alabama. Owner-operators may choose from percentage or mileage lease options and may be eligible for up to a $5,000 lease-on incentive.

“Customer demand in the Birmingham area is incredibly strong across many of our divisions,” said Rob Reich, Schneider’s senior vice president. “Unlike traditional trucking jobs, Schneider has a driving career to fit any lifestyle, with more than 75 percent of our drivers getting home weekly or better. Today’s drivers are looking for work-life balance, different career options and great take-home pay. On all those fronts, Schneider delivers.”

Experienced drivers, driving school graduates and owner-operators are encouraged to visit to view the many different opportunities and apply online. Candidates can also call 800-44-PRIDE (800-447-7433).

Assurance of Supply: A Top Concern for Manufacturers

Every manufacturer has an assurance of supply problem to some extent due to the complexity of global sourcing. For years, manufacturers were blessed with high margins but margins have grown paper thin. You can’t fill up your distribution centers with excess inventory – not only is there a cost factor but the pace of business and consumer buying trends causes goods to quickly turn obsolete. Assurance of supply provides the speed and agility that is essential to being able to compete in today’s market.
