The World Bank says East Asian economies are likely to grow 6.3 percent this year--the fastest growth since 2000. The strong growth is being boosted mostly by demand from the U.S., Japan, and China. As for Japan, the World Bank forecasts 3.1 percent economic growth for 2004, which is up considerably from the 1.6 percent forecast made previously.
The only downside to the rosy economic forecast is China, whose booming economy may actually end up doing more harm than good to East Asian economic growth.
