Solar panels and wind turbines are an example of the types of environmental goods that would qualify for duty-free trade, remarked U.S. Trade Representative Rob Portman recently, adding, “The U.S. proposals underscore our commitment to trade policies that promote clean air and water, and wise management of natural resources.”
Canada, the European Community, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, and Switzerland are the other countries joining the U.S. in promoting free trade in environmental goods.
