The program got a jump-start in August, when U.S. Customs & Border Patrol loaned the country two large-scale, whole-container x-ray machines, so that CSI's security protections would be in place before the start of the Olympics.
The port of Piraeus is the 20th CSI port to become operational, joining the ports of Rotterdam, Le Havre, Bremerhaven, Hamburg, Antwerp, Singapore, Yokohama, Durban, Hong Kong, Gšteborg, Felixstowe, Genoa, La Spezia, Busan, Vancouver, Montreal, Halifax, Klang, and Tokyo.
