A recent study by the Gartner Group shows that India is the world's leading destination for global outsourcing of IT services. Although China is also a close competitor, thanks to strong governmental support, India is expected to hold onto its top position for a while.
India had $17.2 billion worth of software exports alone last year, but an Indian IT industry group says that by 2007 total global offshore spending on IT service could reach $50 billion.
Other countries that are vying for more IT outsourcing include the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Russia.
