Showing its value to the First Coast in a time of a depressed economy, Jaxport has released its 2009 Annual Report.For the ninth consecutive year, Jaxport is reporting record revenue, earning $47.3 million in fiscal year 2009.
That money came as the port system saw more than 7 million tons of cargo move through, nearly 4 million of which was container cargo.
The cruise ship Carnival Fascination sailed out of Jaxport 78 times, carrying more than 185,000 people.
The report also projects a good 2010, with harbor improvements underway and preparations to design a container terminal for the South Korean shipping company Hanjin.
