MSC Appoints Two Executives
Two executives have received promotions at Mediterranean Shipping Company’s U.S. headquarters in New York.The Geneva-based container carrier promoted Barry Indig to Vice President, Global Accounts, and Paolo Magnani to Vice President, Quality Control.
Indig joined the company in 1999, while Magnani came to MSC in 1996.
Rademacher Tapped by ABX
Cargo carrier ABX Air has named Randy D. Rademacher as a member of its board of directors. The addition raises the size of the airline’s board to seven.Rademacher is a former president of Comair Holdings, the parent company of cargo airline Comair, a regional feeder for Delta Air Lines.
Based in Wilmington, Ohio, ABX is a sub-service operator for DHL.
Aponte Takes the Reins at ELAA
The board of the European Liner Affairs Association has appointed Gianluigi Aponte, president of Mediterranean Shipping Co., as its new chairman, effective January 1.Aponte succeeds Jacques Saade of CMA CGM for the one-year term as chairman of the Brussels-based group.
The European Liner Affairs Association (ELAA) was established in May 2003 to represent the liner shipping companies of the world in the European Commission’s review process of Regulation 4056/86. The ELAA acts as a coherent contact point for the Commission throughout its on-going consultation and review process.
New Chief for Port of Seattle
The Port of Seattle Commission has voted to approve port industry veteran Tay Yoshitani as the port’s new chief executive.Yoshitani previously led the ports of Oakland and Baltimore and was deputy executive director of the Port of Los Angeles. He succeeds Mic Dinsmore, who is retiring after 14 years at the Pacific Northwest port.
Yoshitani is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and holds a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard University.
Wild, Jweihan Advance at DHL
DHL has named David Wild to the post of commercial director for the Middle East, with responsibility for the company’s operations in 13 countries in the region. Most recently, Wild served as general manager in the United Arab Emirates.Meanwhile, Janet Jweihan will succeed him as general manager for the U.A.E. She most recently was country manager of DHL in Kuwait.
McClure Joins Port of Oakland Commissioners
Mark McClure will join the Oakland Board of Port Commissioners following his nomination by the mayor and appointment by the Oakland City Council during a December meeting.He has served on the Oakland Planning Commission for three years and was appointed to the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission.
