Massive project gets Dutch lawmakers' approval
Dutch lawmakers have approved the construction of a massive container terminal at the Port of Rotterdam, which will help the port retain its competitive advantage over ports such as Le Havre and Hamburg.Construction for the $3.7 billion port is expected to begin in 2008, with operations to begin in 2013.
Container volume at the Port of Rotterdam rose to a record 9.2 million TEUs last year from 8.2 million in 2004.
