Truckers filed 30 percent more electronic manifests between August and September, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Thirteen thousand e-manifests were filed in September via Customs' Automated Commercial Environment, compared to 10,000 in August.

Under new security rules, truckers are required to electronically file manifest information prior to arriving at a border crossing.
