Driver shortage still rates highest
A new survey conducted by the American Transportation Research Institute finds that driver shortages and diesel fuel issues are the leading concerns for trucking companies.Aside from those two issues, the remaining top 10 include driver retention, the hours-of-service rule, congestion, government regulations, highway infrastructure, tort reform, tolls/highway funding, and environmental issues.
The survey polled more than 4,000 trucking industry executives. Results were released in Dallas, Texas at the 2006 Management Conference and Exhibition of the American Trucking Associations (ATA), the nation’s largest gathering of motor carrier executives, and will be used by the ATA to better focus its advocacy role on behalf of the U.S. trucking industry.
