Need a job? The supply chain is hiring.

Most of the news about jobs these days is dour. High unemployment rates have led to many well-trained professionals being out of work. But there is some good job news out there: as companies look to start managing their supply chains in a more strategic manner, hiring for jobs in logistics and the supply chain is taking off.

According to Michael Koploy at Warehouse Management Systems Guide, businesses are now turning to their supply chain teams to cut costs and increase efficiencies to better their bottom lines. As such, there is in increase in supply-chain-related positions in areas such as demand planning, procurement, supervising distribution centers, supply chain consulting, and 3PL business management. Strong supply chain fundamentals are important in all of these areas. Beyond that, strong analytical and quantitative thinking skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must. Keeping current in new supply chain strategies and technologies and is important in staying on top in these fields as well.
